YouView has updated its app for Android-based devices that gives it new functionality.
The app, that acts as a guide and helps users record programs remotely, has had improvements to search functions. Channel search suggestions and results are now presented in the same order as on the TV guide.
When using your device in landscape, the Guide and Now & Next views show more of the channel name to make it easier to identify individual channels.
The app now also supports internet channel recording. YouView said that customers with a box from BT or have purchased a Humax YouView box from retail and have the latest software update will be able to send recording requests for programmes on internet channels using the YouView App.
This will be possible for customers with a BT Infinity or TalkTalk broadband connection and an appropriate TV subscription. Customers with YouView from TalkTalk will be able to record internet channels with a future update to the YouView Huawei box.
The app has also updated the way it handles hidden channels. Customers with a a BT or Humax YouView box with the latest software will find that channels hidden on their set-top box will no longer be presented in the YouView App, YouView said.
The app can be downloaded on on most Android 2.3+ devices and has been tested to support the following smartphones: Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Ace, LG Nexus 4, and the HTC One (m7).
The YouView app is free and can be found on Google Play.
