Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for those rugby fans who haven’t yet signed up to BT Sport to see just how good our coverage is. It’s also a chance for those new to rugby to sample the action and be converted to the game.

The rugby season kicked off on BT Sport last week. The Newcastle vs Bath game averaged 67,000 viewers (peak 108,000), at the same time when the England football team doled out  4-0 trashing to Moldova in the FIFA World Cup qualifier.

BT Sport will be showing 69 live games from the Aviva Premiership rugby union season and has the rights to the following three seasons.
