Netflix nets Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove second series for 2014

Netflix has announced that a second season of Eli Roth’s horror series Hemlock Grove has been ordered. 

The first season of the supernatural drama has proven a hit with committed Netflixers to the point where Netflix has greenlit a second one, intending to crank up the scare factor.

“The worldwide fan response to ‘Hemlock Grove’ was phenomenal” says executive producer Roth, famous for modern horror mainstays Hostel and Cabin Fever. “Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season one was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.”

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to NetflixNetflix has also asked US TV writer and producer Charles H. Eglee (The Walking Dead, The Shield, Dexter) to come on board as an executive producer.

The second season will consists of ten one-hour episodes and will be based on material produced by novelist Brian McGreevy, whose Hemlock Grove book inspired the first series.

Hemlock Grove will return to Netflix in 2014. The first series is available to stream exclusively from Netflix now. Hemlock Grove is one of the many shows produced exclusively for Netflix along with House of Cards and Arrested Development.

Netflix is available on Windows and Mac desktop and laptop, iOS, Android, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3 and selected smart TVs and connected Blu-ray players. 

Netflix costs £5.99/month.
