O2 customers will be able to hop on board Virgin Media’s London Underground network from July 22 onwards.
The WiFi network, available at 120 Underground stations, has been free to access for Virgin Media, EE and Vodafone customers since last December. Now O2 customers will be able make use of the same WiFi network free of charge.
It was announced back in March that O2 subscribers would be getting free access this June. Tests of the service have however caused a slight delay to the launch. To be honest, it wouldn’t be the full London Underground experience if there weren’t ‘slight delays’.

“O2 is currently testing Underground Wifi service before official launch on 22 July to ensure fully operational service. The service will be available, free of charge, to all O2 Wifi-registered users.”
O2 Wifi is available in many high street venues including McDonalds and Costa and registration is free.
Access to Virgin Media’s subterranean wireless network normally costs £2/day, £5/week or £15/month. Three mobile customers and others will be looking at coughing up this much if they want access or hope that their network can come to some arrangement with Virgin Media.
On the surface, more than 50 London Overground stations benefit from free WiFi provided by The Cloud.
