Sky Go adds ITVBe and Channel 5 in time for TOWIE and Gotham

Sky has boosted its Sky Go lineup with the addition of Channel 5, 5*, 5 USA, ITVBe and British Eurosport 2. 

The new channels join the likes of Sky Atlantic, Sky 1, Sky Sports and ITV Encoreplus another 60 destinations, meaning you can get Sky wherever you are on your mobile, tablet or laptop. 

The news comes in time for the launch of ITVBe, which became the official home of TOWIE last week and the arrival of Batman prequel Gotham on Channel 5.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s Brand Director of TV Products, commented: “It’s great news for our 5.6 million Sky Go customers who can now get even more shows to watch including TOWIE and Big Brother. Sky Go lets our customers have even more flexibility to enjoy the TV they love, on their terms.”

If reality TV isn’t your cup of tea, you can watch something a little more manly, such as The Mentalist or maybe British Superbikes and American Football on British Eurosport 2.

Channel 5’s offering includes classic soap Neighbours and Big Brother. The channel’s current big win however is Gotham, which is currently exclusive to the channel. The pulpy comic book series, which follows the early days, will resurface on Netflix once it’s finished its TV run but you can watch the show now on Channel 5 or catch up online through Sky Go or Demand 5. 

James Tatam, Channel 5’s Digital Media Director, said: “We’re delighted Sky Go customers will be able to enjoy the incredible line up of programmes we’ve put together this autumn across Channel 5, 5* and 5 USA, from Gotham to Can’t Pay, We’ll Take it Away and everything in between.”

Sky’s last set of Sky Go channel additions happened just before the World Cup and included ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV.

Sky Go service has proven popular with subscribers, with over 1.4 million of Sky’s 10.7 million TV customers now taking Sky Go Extra. Sky Go is a standard feature of a Sky TV subscription and lets you watch Sky channels on the go on up to two mobile devices. Sky Go Extra costs an additional £5/month and lets you watch on up to four devices. 

BSkyB chief executive, Jeremy Darroch, said: “The investments that we have made in new connected TV services are delivering growing benefits to our business. Our mobile TV service Sky Go Extra achieved a record quarter of growth.”
