Sky seals O2 and Be Broadband deal, invites customers to switch early

Sky has formally completed its acquisition of O2 and Be Broadband meaning that as of now, O2 and Be customers are Sky customers.

If you’re an O2 or Be customer, you’ll still receive services and billing from O2 and Be until Sky moves you over to its network.

In the meantime, Sky will be sending out letters to O2 and Be customers outlining the benefits of Sky Broadband – unlimited downloads, no traffic shaping, the options of Sky TV, Sky Go and Sky Fibre – and why they should switch.

Sky has also mentioned that there will be special introductory discounts for those who want to move over immediately, though there’s no word on what these discounts will be just yet.

O2 and Be customers will be notified closer to the time when Sky plans to migrate customers to its own network. Sky says the process will be seamless and is currently planning on starting later this Autumn.

We’re chasing up for details on where migration is expected to take place first and will update once we know more.

This news also means that Sky is now effectively the UK’s second-biggest ISP.
