Provider of wireless broadband to rural North Yorkshire communities CLANNET has set up two hotspots in Leyburn and Appleton Wiske.
Wireless broadband providing download speeds of up to 25Mbps are now available in the village of Leyburn and visitors to Appleton Wiske Village Hall can make use of a public WiFi network.
CLANNET hopes to expand its services in Appleton Wiske during future upgrades, though there’s no mention of roughly when this will happen or how wide-ranging the coverage will be.

These two rural hotspots are the latest parts of North Yorkshire that have been served by the CLANNET wireless broadband project. Much of Northallerton is covered as are parts of York and Grimsby.
CLANNET is a community broadband project that’s part-funded by money from Defra, the Rural Development Programme for England and the EU’s Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
