Rejoice, Flash fans. Turns out Adobe aren’t abandoning it on Ice Cream Sandwich after all.
Adobe pinged Pocket-Lint to let them know that they would be releasing a version of Flash for Ice Cream Sandwich, but after that, they’re done: whatever Android 5.0 brings, Adobe won’t be there to support it. In the long run, they’ll only be providing updates for bug fixes.
“Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit – both expected to be released before the end of this year.”
There you have it. Expect Flash for ICS to land before the end of 2011. Until then, try to hold back the tears when online videos won’t play. Relief is on the way.
