Amazon giving away £150 of apps and games for free

Owners of Amazon’s Fire tablets and any Android device can bag themselves £150 worth of apps and games for free today, simply by checking into Amazon’s App Store.

Everyone knows that the true spirit of Christmas is bagging yourselves loads of free loot, and Amazon hasn’t disappointed, as our beautiful beating global heart of consumerism. Today, you can download £150 worth of apps from the Amazon App Store, for absolutely nowt – and it’s quite a decent selection and variety of titles, with something for everyone.

What’s included in Amazon’s £150 App Store giveaway?

Good news if you’re into games, music, exercise, photography or…reading all about muscle structure…as there’s something for you in the Amazon bundle.

A variety of mobile games including Tetris, Terraria, Colin McRae Rally, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the freakish Five Nights at Freddy’s are all included, plus fun virtual DJ app djay 2, the pro version of Endomondo Sports Tracker, PicShop photo editor, Splashtop Remote Desktop, and the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary. Handy for us journalist types.

The most expensive app on there by far, accounting for almost a third of the total price, is The Muscular System Manual. This rather bizarre choice costs a whopping £41.42 normally, and appears to be a virtual textbook all about muscle formation and structure. A rivetting festive read all round. Unsurprisingly, there are no reviews yet.

These are just a few of the many free apps and games available in the bundle – why not head over to Amazon’s App Store right now to see the full collection.

How do I download the bundle?

If you have an Amazon Fire tablet, or the Fire phone, then simply head to Amazon’s online apps store and you’ll find the bundle ready and waiting.

If you have a different Android phone or tablet, you’ll need to do a little more legwork.

First, head to www.amazon.co.uk/getappstore. Tap the button that says ‘install Amazon App Store’ and the apk file should start to download.

While that’s downloading, head into your device’s settings and then go to either Security or Applications. In one of the two, you should see an option to ‘allow installation of apps from unknown sources’. Make sure that is ticked.

When the apk file is downloaded, tap it in the notification bar. The App Store will then install on your Android device. When thats done, open it up (you’ll find it in your apps folder) and you should find the bundle on the home page.

When does this offer run?

The offer should have gone live at the same time as this article, as the clocks strike midnight and Christmas Eve begins. You’ve got until the stroke of midnight on Boxing Day to get your apps bundle downloaded, or it’ll cease to be.

Merry Christmas one and all, enjoy playing with your mobile tech over the festive period!
