Word has reached us that HTC is now busily rolling out 3.2 Honeycomb updates to the HTC Flyer. Though if you eagerly snapped up a 3G-enabled version you’re in for a wait; it looks like it’s Wi-Fi-only versions of the 7-inch tablet getting Honeycomb love for now.
Though not quite as cool as jumping straight to Ice Cream Sandwich, we’re hearing of fun things like much improved overall performance and smoother animations. Support for USB attachments which we’ve seen in the 3.1 Honeycomb update ought to be bunged in. So you ought to be able to enjoy the novelty of controlling HTC Watch with an Xbox 360 pad.
It’s a welcome upgrade for Flyer owners who shelled out at launch and have been patiently waiting for some upgrade love. Still no word on whether or not Ice Cream Sandwich will be hitting the HTC Flyer; given how long its taken for Honeycomb to migrate to the Flyer, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich might never see the light of day on HTC’s debut Android tab.
Given that you can download the bootloader for the Flyer now, there’s every chance that a less-official workaround might present itself in the not too distant future.
