A Sony Ericssonspokesperson has denied plans reported by SoMobile that the current range of Xperia phones were set to get upgraded to the forthcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
A representative told Slashgear that: “When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.”
This year, Sony Ericsson has made a lot of headway ensuring that its phones (particularly SIM-free models) get the very latest versions of Android. (Though it’s worth noting that we have several network-locked models that are still lagging behind.)
It could be that SE do have plans to upgrade as many handsets possible to the forthcoming OS, but haven’t yet received a concrete list of minimum specifications that Android 4.0 will need to function.
