Android users can now enjoy a darker, revamped Spotify app

Android users will now be able to enjoy the darker-themed Spotify app, a month after it was updated for iOS.

Spotify recently updated its desktop and iOS apps with a darker, more contemporary visual theme and new features including a ‘Your Music’ collection. And soon Android users will be able to enjoy a piece of the newly-baked Spotify pie as the company begins rolling out the latest update to Googe-powered devices.

Black magic: How the darker Spotify looks on iOS

The darker theme gives Spotify a more refined look. The new look, according to Spotify, lets content ‘pop’. In the company’s words, “playing your favourite music has never looked so good.”

The ‘Your Music’ collection lets you save albums and create playlists featuring your favourite artists. Once you have found a song or album you like, you can hit ‘save’ which will automatically add it to your collection. The Browse feature has also been improved, giving users the option of searching for music that matches their mood.

The new interface was developed after Spotify users said they would preferred a black interface. However, the darker look has attracted a mixed response since its launch. Many users have said they want the return of missing features such as the star button, which was used to assign favourite tracks. Others have said they want the previous design to return in full.

Spotify says the update will be available to all Android users in the next few weeks.
