Apple App Store prices rise in the UK; new lowest price 69p up from 59p

Apple appears to have marked up asking prices for games and apps in its App Store in the UK. The lowest price you’d normally expect to fork out for a paid app was a humble 59p – this has now risen to a princely 69p.

It’s not just the cheapest apps either; we noticed that Gameloft’s swashbuckling BackStab now costs £4.99, a whole piece of eight up from the original £3.99.

CoPilot Live Premium, which launched earlier this week, is now priced at £17.48 up from the original £14.99.

The iPhone Blog, where we first heard about this, says that the price rises are due to exchange rates with the US dollar. This could be a knock on effect of the current financial situation in the US, or maybe not – we’re not financial experts.

We’ve contacted Apple for further information on what’s happening and are waiting to hear back.
