Apple expands 3G download limit to 20MB

iPhone owners feeling the choke on their app downloads over 3G can loosen their belts today. We’ve just heard via Cellular Guru that Apple has rather quietly increased the 10MB limit on downloads to twice the size – 20MB.

The 10MB cap applied on a per app basis over 3G or EDGE connections, which meant if you wanted to download bigger apps you had to get yourself some Wi-Fi. Now iPhone users have the freedom to download apps up to 20MB in size wherever they have signal.

We think that this might have something to do with the announcement of the iPad, but this is also great news for iPhone users who can now access bigger apps from the App Store.
