Apple’s codenames for all it’s updates to iOS have been revealed and they have an alpine theme.
App developer Steve Troughton Smith, outed them on Twitter, and they’re certainly not as exciting as Google’s sweet-treat naming system. TiPB has the complete list:
1.0: Alpine (1.0.0 – 1.0.2: Heavenly)
1.1: Little Bear (1.1.1: Snowbird, 1.1.2: Oktoberfest)
2.0: Big Bear
3.2: Wildcat (iPad only)
4.2: Jasper (4.2.5 – 4.2.10: Phoenix)
The names are apparently ski resorts in the United States, although doesn’t appear to be any reason for the order – unlike Google’s A-Z structure.
Troughton-Smith doesn’t actually work for Apple; he is an independent developer who creates applications for a host of operating systems including Android, webOS and Blackberry QNX, as well as for Apple iOS.
