We’re hearing more rumours regarding the Apple Pad Mini. Aside from its smaller physical size, the iPad Mini is expected to offer up a screen size between 7 and 8-inches and will launch October his year alongside Apple’s next iPhone for the (very competitive price of) $200-$250.
A source told imore.com that Apple is expected to offer itself as a 7-inch version (although screen dimensions are to be confirmed) of the retina display on the current iPad. Despite the drop in size, it will also offer the same resolution of 2048×1536 as the iPad 3’s but with 326ppi pixel density (the iPad 3’s screen has 264ppi).
Screen aside, the iPad Mini will almost be an exact lift of the current model, albeit scaled down.
The big question then, is how is Apple going to justify the incredibly low price-point of between $200 and $250 – at the moment the cheapest iPad is the iPad 2, which still costs £329. The most likely change could be a drop of internal storage, to around 8GB – like the iPod Touch.
The source in question said that both the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini will launch simultaneously in October time, whether that’s true, remains to be seen, but we’ll bring you more news when we get it.
