Apple iPhone 6c in a nutshell: All you need to know

Apple is apparently back on track to launch a new 4-inch iPhone in 2016, dubbed the iPhone 6c. Here’s the latest rumours and news about the iPhone 6c, including specs and potential UK launch dates.

Apple iPhone 6c or iPhone 7c?

Rumours of a new 4-inch iPhone have been doing the rounds for a year or so now, first emerging soon after Apple bumped up the standard iPhone size to 4.7-inches, for the iPhone 6. These rumours then fizzled out in July, until Chinese site MyDrivers published launch and spec info on what they dub the ‘iPhone 7c’.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see a new 4-inch iPhone launched in 2016 for nostalgic Apple fans, although a 4-inch screen does seem unbearably small these days. However, it’s more likely to be released earlier in the year than the iPhone 7 (which should be launched in September 2016). So any 4-inch iPhone will probably be called the iPhone 6c instead.

Apple iPhone 6c specs

If rumours are right, the new 4-inch iPhone will sport an 1136×640 pixel resolution display, giving a typically sharp 326 pixels-per-inch. MyDrivers also reckons the screen will sport the same 2.5D curved glass as Apple’s recent iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

An Apple A9 processor (also found in the iPhone 6s) will power the iPhone 6c, while the 1,642mAh battery will hopefully provide all-day battery life.

Apple iPhone 6c UK price and launch/release date

There are already strong rumours of an Apple launch in March 2016, where we’re likely to see the new iPad Air 3 emerge. If that is indeed the case, then we’d also expect to see the iPhone 6c launched at the same time.

As with the iPhone 5c, don’t expect to see the iPhone 6c hit stores at a discount price. It’ll likely start at around £400 for the 16GB model, rising to £550 or so for the 128GB model.

This article is constantly being updated as fresh iPhone 6c rumours emerge.
