The latest internet buzz has Apple’s new iPad 6/iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 launching worldwide on October 16th. Here’s all we know so far…
Before the weekend, most webby rumours pointed at an October 21st launch date for Apple’s latest iPads, a mere month and a bit after the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch were unveiled. However, it now looks like the iPad launch could be even sooner – Thursday 16th October, in fact – according to a source who let slip to Recode.
So far we’re expecting to see an updated version of the iPad Air, the 6th full-sized iPad now, which may imaginatively be called the iPad Air 2. Or perhaps the New iPad Air. It should come packing Apple’s big new features including Apple Pay via NFC plus a Touch ID fingerprint scanner for added security.
We should also see Apple launch its latest iPad Mini 3 (or iPad Mini with Retina Display 2 or whatever), adding many, if not all, of the same features to Apple’s dinky 7.9-inch tablet.
One feature that was sadly missing from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was split-screen app multitasking. Rumours still point to this feature appearing on the new iPads and we hope it’s true – just ten days until we can confirm, with any luck.
