Apple to sell 100 millionth iPhone this year

Apple’s world domination continues with Crunchgear reporting the company is set to sell 100 million phones this year.

Apples announcement of 1st fiscal quarter sales of 16.24 million iPhones means the company currently is close to 90 million in handset sales.

Given that American mobile network Verizon is soon to get its own version of the iPhone 4, it seems highly likely that Apple will break the 100 million mark this year. Despite the astronomical  success of the iPhone however, the company now faces an increasing number of Android phones to contend with.

Carphone Warehouse announced today that Android handsets have overtaken iPhone sales within their shops.
