The family board game was and still is a staple of many a British household. Chances are you’ll have Monopoly or Guess Who? in some form or another under the coffee table in the lounge, but what about the family board game for the modern era? That’s where AppQuiz comes in.
Whilst pacing the floor at the London-based Appletics event last week, AppToyz showed us AppQuiz a quick fire general knowledge game designed to interface with Apple’s iPad or all manner of Android tablets. Using the buzzer dock, up to four players can vie for general knowledge superiority by answering from a selection of 4000 questions along with mini-games and music rounds using the app’s in built repository of knowledge.
The AppQuiz buzzer accessory slots onto the bottom of the players’ tablet and from then on, all interaction within the app takes place using the colour coded buzzers. Much like the BUZZ! game series for Sony’s PlayStation, the quiz app is presented in gameshow style, with its own host, ‘Chuck Boldhart’. The app is yet to launch on Google Play or the App Store, but when it does, it’ll be free with the extra cost of the dock, expected to retail for £29.99.
