Asus Eee Pad MeMo: 7-inch Android tab arriving January?

If torturing ourselves with videos of the Transformer Prime wasn’t enough, we’ve heard word that the smaller, 7-inch Eee Pad MeMo slate is due to hit the shelves as early as January.

Though not confirmed to come to the UK yet, the Eee Pad MeMo has some tantalising specs (we’re less keen on that IrreGUlaRly CaPITaliSEd NaMe though).

Listed specifications are a 1.2GHz chip (no mention if its dual or quad core), 1GB of RAM and a 7-inch screen packing a resolution of 1024 x 600.

Other specs include a 5-megapixel camera with a single LED flash, and a 1.2-megapixeler ‘round on the front for video chats and whatnot.

Connection-wise there’s an HDMI port though no mention of anything else; we’d assume that there’d be the standard microUSB and 3.5mm connections as well. Our contact for Asus in the UK had nothing to add about a launch date over here; the emphasis right now is very much on the Transformer Prime and understandably so.

There’s no solid mention of whether or not it’ll come with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. We would guess so, but if not we’re sure it’d be a case of 3.2 Honeycomb for a short while before getting an update to ICS.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.
