Asus Eee Pad Transformer to get Ice Cream Sandwich by end of February

Asus has posted some more information on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich hitting the Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet and the latest firmware over-the-air (FOTA) update for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) is in line to get the update at sometime this month, though no fixed date has been announced. Our sources are saying that it’ll likely be towards the end of the month, though, as is often the process with Android updates, this could arrive a little sooner or later than anticipated.

We also understand that the latest firmware update (Version: 9.4.2.13) for the Transformer Prime (TF201) will be arriving sometime this week. Due to arrive last Friday, Asus held back “due to a couple of issues.”

When we spoke to Asus about this we were told that, again, nothing concrete date-wise is forthcoming but to keep a lookout this week and refresh Settings > About > System Firmware Update regularly.

Despite the order problems and known GPS issues the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is easily one of the best gadgets we’ve used recently. Check out our glowing review here, our tips and tricks guide and see how it compares with the current cream of Android tablets and the original Eee Pad Transformer.
