Asus EeePad Transformer TF101 Ice Cream Sandwich update coming Feb?

Owners of the original Asus EeePad Transformer will have to wait until at least early February to get the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Last week Asus announced that the rollout of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Asus Transformer Prime would begin January 12th (today) and it was assumed that the update to the original Transfer would be happening soon after. Asus UK, via its Facebook page confirmed the update will be: ‘available ASAP after Jan 12th’ (below).

Yesterday Asus Singapore posted on its Facebook page that the update would be happening just after January 12th; another post followed (below) retracting it and stating instead it will be at the end of the month.

Android Police has spoken to a representative of Asus US and the following information: the ICS update for the original Transformer TF101 will be released by early February (and not late January, as ASUS SG is suggesting, although the difference is so small that either one of these projections could end up being correct). The update will occur in North America and Taiwan first.

On the basis of this information, North America and Taiwan regions will be getting the update first in early February, so the UK has to be at some point after that, although this could be days. We’ll try and find out from Asus UK and update you with any further news when we get.
