Dual-core phones and tablets? That’s old news. Quad-core is where it’s at now. If you feel the serious need for speed, check out the leaked benchmark from the Asus Transformer Prime.
Sitting at the top of benchmarks is the Prime running at a speedy 1.4Ghz, demolishing the competition. Apparently there was also a 1.6Ghz version that managed a beefy score of 12,872, far above what the original Transformer can offer, which maxes out at around 7596.
The Transformer Prime is the follow up to the original Asus Transformer, which let you dock the tablet with a separate keyboard to give you a laptop like experience. You also scored some extra battery life so you could keep consuming content through the wee hours of the night.
We don’t know what the final clock speed on the quad-core Kal-El chip will be, but we certainly won’t complain if it turns out to be 1.4Ghz. Asus have been teasing the Transformer Prime for a few weeks, and while there’s no firm release date yet, we imagine it’s just around the corner.
