Three are the first UK carrier to confirm that they’ll be stocking one of Asus’ first Windows RT tablet products; the Asus Vivo RT tab as according to the Eastern Morning Herald.
Microsoft are less than a couple of weeks away from giving the green light to both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8, by which time we’ll have already collected a heap of information on the first wave of devices to tote both of the company’s new operating systems.
Nokia, HTC and Samsung are leading the charge on the Windows Phone 8 front, whilst Asus and Samsung appear to be the first flag bearers for Windows 8/RT devices. We’ve already learnt a lot about what the Vivo RT will offer, featuring a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 32GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card, multiple USB ports, NFC connectivity and of course being an Asus product, that all important Transformer-esq dockable keyboard/tablet design.
Aesthetically, the outside of the Vivo RT looks reminiscent of the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, with a split design of brushed metal and a plastic top half, however the high resolution display of the Infinity unfortunately doesn’t carry across.
Three are pushing the Vivo RT’s multi-tasking and business potential as Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel etc…) will come as part of the operating system, offering a wholly capable office suite which can interface/sync across multiple devices. There’s no official launch date yet, but users can register their interest on the ‘coming soon’ section of Three’s website.
