Best cases and covers for the iPhone SE

We check out the best protective cases, bumpers and phone covers for the iPhone SE, Apple’s newest 4-inch handset.

Apple has recently launched a brand new 4-inch phone for 2016, the iPhone SE, sporting a similar design to the iPhone 5S. In fact, any cases and covers made for the iPhone 5S should also fit the iPhone SE – but here’s our pick of the best protective cases made especially for Apple’s new star player.

FlexiShield Gel Case – £6.99

This moulded gel cover from FlexiShield adds only the bare minimum of girth to your new iPhone SE, while the tint adds a splash of colour to the metallic frame. The material is designed to stick to your palm too, giving you extra grip. But in the case of an accidental tumble, the impact-absorbing gel, and raised bezels should protect your iPhone from damage.

You can also pick up the Olixar iPhone SE Gel Case for the same price, which adds a completely transparent and impressively thin bumper to your handset to keep it safe.

Toast iPhone SE wood covers – from $34.99

If you’re looking for something a little different, Toast’s customisable wooden covers have the potential to be real head turners. The company, which found its feet on Kickstarter, offers up SE cases in a range of sustainable wood finishes: walnut, ash, bamboo, and ebony. What’s more, you can customise each adhesive cover with laser-etched graphics and even throw on some custom text, just bear in mind that the more tweaking you do, the higher the price. You can pick up a Toast case for the iPhone SE here.

Olixar Genuine Leather iPhone SE Wallet Case – £19.99

For those after a business-style case, this attractive genuine leather holder from Olixar will do the job. The cover is held firmly in place with a magnetic clasp, adding extra protection to your iPhone SE’s screen, while slots for your cards and cash mean you can leave your wallet at home. Olixar’s design is rugged but elegant, complete with sturdy stitching, although it does add considerable bulk to the iPhone’s frame.

X-Doria Bump Gear Plus iPhone SE Case – £24.99

These X-Doria bumper cases wrap around the edges of your iPhone SE, keeping most of the attractive design unobscured while adding essential protection in case of a sudden plummet. The aluminium exterior comes in a range of colours including the obligatory Rose Gold as well as a transparent model, while the rubbery interior helps to absorb impact shock.

Spigen Tough Armor iPhone SE Case – £24.99

If you’re uber-paranoid about your expensive new iPhone, then the Spigen Tough Armor case is one way to get a little peace of mind. Drop-tested to Military Grade standards, the Tough Armor cover offers seriously good protection from steep drops and wraps around the whole of the phone, while leaving ports and the Apple logo exposed. You can pick it up in lots of Apple-style colours including Rose Gold.

Tech21 Patriot Case – £39.95

Tech21 Patriot case

We’ve been long-time fans of case maker Tech21, having encountered their products back when the iPhone was still a fresh-faced scrub on the smartphone scene. The company has been making cases and covers with some pretty impressive impact protection technology and the Patriot looks to be the best of the best within the company’s iPhone SE range. Available in Smokey Grey or Smokey Pink, the Patriot can protect your SE in drops of up to 13 feet (and probably higher), adds splash and water resistance into the mix and boasts a screen protector which shares its DNA with bulletproof glass, wowza! You can pick the Tech21 Patriot Case up here.

You can also pick the iPhone SE up itself from O2 here.
