Best cheap tablets you can buy in 2017

We round-up and review the best budget tablets that you can buy in the UK in 2017, for under £100 and £200. If you’re after a cheap Android device for browsing the web, enjoying TV shows and gaming on the go, here’s our pick of the best.

Best tablets under £100

Amazon Fire HD 6

Amazon’s Fire HD 6 is aimed at anyone who makes full use of the online retailer’s services, such as its Kindle book store, Prime Instant Video and the Amazon apps store. However, the sharp screen, capable performance and decent battery life make it a great tablet even for Amazon sceptics, while the compact size means it’s easy to carry around.

And at well under £100, the Fire HD 6 is a bargain too.

Asus MeMO Pad 7

The Asus MeMO Pad 7 is one of our favourite affordable Android tablets of 2015. Families will get more from the Hudl 2 (see below), with its excellent family features, but the MeMO Pad is great for anyone wanting to stay productive as well as entertained on the move.

The combination of gorgeous Full HD visuals and smooth performance make the tablet perfect for getting creative or enjoying your high-def films, while Asus has packed in a few different ways of hooking up with other devices. Factor in the impressive battery life and you’ve got an excellent all-round portable pal.

Best tablets under £200

Tesco Hudl 2

This rugged, colourful tablet boasts a sharp Full HD 8.3-inch screen, decent battery life and smooth performance. But it’s the family-friendly features that really make it stand out.

For one, parents can block dodgy websites and other harmful materials so they don’t corrupt your offspring’s fragile little mind. You can even set specific times that your sprogs can use the tablet so they’re not up all night playing Crossy Road.

Vodafone Tab Prime 6

Vodafone’s Tab Prime 6 is a solid low-cost tablet, offering a good user experience and decent features for the price.

The best part is the built-in 4G support, so you can slip a SIM card inside and stay connected wherever you roam.
