Best Tablet of 2014: Recombu Awards winner

We’ve just announced our best tablet of 2014 at the grand Recombu Awards 2014 ceremony! Here’s who won, and the highly commended mobile tech that came close…

Best Tablet 2014 winner: Apple iPad Air

Another year, another awesome tablet from Apple. The iPad Air fixes all of the problems with the iPad 4, namely the fact that it was a bulky, heavy, cumbersome slab. In contrast, the iPad Air is impressively slender and light, easy to clutch in one hand despite its 10-inch screen.

Factor in the usual excellent Apple design and the iPad Air is well worthy of its Best Tablet 2014 award. The Retina display is stunning, iOS 8 adds some handy new tools and the App Store is as well stocked as ever.

Best Tablet 2014 highly commended: Samsung Galaxy Tab S

The Galaxy Tab S from Samsung gave us severe heartburn when it came to judging this category. It’s as close as you’ll get to an Android iPad, with a gorgeous, vibrant and sharp screen, tons of great features and some slick, slender design.

Best Tablet 2014 highly commended: Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

If you’re after a seriously powerful tablet that’s a wee bit more portable that these hulking 10-inchers, but aren’t swayed by the ho-hum iPad Mini 3, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is your best bet. It’s compact enough to clutch in one hand and amazingly light, not to mention water resistant. Factor in the Full HD screen and usual awesome Sony features and the Z3 tab is a great portable pal.
