Samsung has unveiled the new Black Editions of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini.
Photos and details of the new Black Editions of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini have been released. Both phones show off a leather-like textured back cover, and also come with eight dedicated wallpapers for the home and lock screens. The comapny’s even thrown in a range of new ringtones to choose from too.
The intriduction of these Black Editions brings both handsets more in line with other faux-stitched plastic backs in Samsung’s family, most notably debuted on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.
Samsung’s Galaxy S4 has a Full HD Super AMOLED display that’s 5-inches and boasts 441ppi. It also has a powerful rear 13MP camera, which recently received a welcome firmware upgrade and it totes more distinctive features like a Dual Camera function that lets you take photos simultaneously using both the front and rear cameras. Whilst the S4 hasn’t yet made the jump to 4.4 KitKat, it’s still a snappy flagship brimming with features.
The Galaxy S4 mini, meanwhile, has a smaller 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED display, and a smaller body, weighing just 107g. This makes one-handed use easier over the full-sized S4. It also has a 1.7GHz dual-core chipset and retains handy features like an IR blaster.
With smartphone design frequently criticed for showcasing a wide array of ‘black rectangles’, is now the right time for Samsung to produce black versions of its flagship and top mid-ranger? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
