The BlackBerry Z10 may not have set the smartphone world ablaze, but BlackBerry is pushing ahead with support for the operating system with a rumoured upcoming update. BBNews.pl believes the company will soon release BlackBerry 10.1, an update that will bring numerous improvements to the operating system along with some new features.
The main improvements will supposedly come to the camera software, which will see speed improvements as well as support for HDR images. BlackBerry will also reportedly add a feature dubbed BlackBerry Link that will allow users to access PC files remotely from the handset. Other enhancements will include UI tweaks and adjustments to the onscreen keyboard.
PhoneArena has also rounded up additional features expected to make an appearance in BlackBerry 10. They include keyboard shortcuts, improved word prediction, and support for darker themes. That last one may very well lead to battery improvements thanks to the use of an OLED screen on the BlackBerry Z10.
It’s not entirely clear when BlackBerry intends to roll out the 10.1 update, but BBNews believes that it may arrive in the next month or two. Anyone who already owns a BlackBerry Z10 will be able to upgrade straight away.
