BlackBerry Bold 9900 UK release date finally revealed

BlackBerry has barely finished unveiling several new handsets powered with its new OS and new processors, but now Phones 4U has announced a precise launch-date for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, and a price.

Available to preorder now, the Bold 9900 will land in the UK on 18th August. The phone retailer will also be stocking the now official Torch 9860 and Torch 9810, but sadly no dates and prices for these just yet.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 hands-on

The Bold 9900 is the thinnest BlackBerry yet, and there’s RIM’s full QWERTY keyboard design beneath a high-resolution capacitive touch screen, and it’s running the new BlackBerry 7 OS.

Crammed inside the brushed steel frame, there’s an NFC chip, a 1.2GHz processor and a glass-weave backplate. Whatever a glass weave is.

The Bold 9900 will be available free from £35 a month contracts, “on a choice of networks”. We’ve heard that all the major phone networks will be stocking the new smartphone.

UPDATE: Carphone Warehouse will also have the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in stock from 18th August, free starting from £31 per month.
