BlackBerry Playbook price slashed to £169 at Carphone Warhouse

If you’ve been thinking about getting a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, but put off by the pricing; now might be a good time. For a limited time Carphone Warehouse is selling RIM’s 7-inch tablet for £169.

Yes, until Feb 7th Carphone Warehouse is selling the 16GB version of the tablet for £169, that’s a reduction of £230, since it’s launch price of £399 and even cheaper than the £179 from the last fire sale.

If you’re looking for a larger capacity, the 32GB capacity will set you back £199 and the 64GB version is £249.

Graham Stapleton, from Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy, said: “The tablet market is growing dramatically and we are working to meet that demand with competitive prices across both our tablet and handset portfolios. The Blackberry Playbook has already been extremely popular and we expect with this promotion there will be even more interest.”

We think that this is fantastic value. Sure the PlayBook isn’t perfect – there’s no native email or 3G. But for movies and web browsing it’s fantastic, thanks to the powerful dual-core processor and sharp 7-inch display. It also runs RIM’s QNX operating system, which is exceptionally quick and intuitive with a series of swipe gestures.

But what’s really appealing is the new features to the forthcoming PlayBook OS 2 will bring. This includes support for some Android apps; the ability to use a BlackBerry smartphone as a remote control and enhancements to the calendar, contacts and email.

We’ve always thought the PlayBook had potential and at this price it might be worth taking a gamble. Has this price tempted you to gett a BlackBerry Playbook? Let us know below of via Facebook and Twitter.
