BSkyB’s Director of Mobile, David Gibbs, announced the new app via a blog post and within it revealed figures from BSkyB’s research carried out by Mintel, investigating demand for TV apps on tablets and smartphones;
“8% of respondents in our research received a tablet over Christmas, which is on top of the 9% of the British population who already own one (according to Ofcom research released last year). Additionally, 16% intend to purchase a mobile tablet in the year ahead.”
With one in three respondents saying that watching films, TV content and videos is a key reason behind them purchasing a tablet, BSkyB is sure to on to a winner with this new app.
