I spent hundreds of hours playing the early PC versions in my youth, but since the split between its developers Sports Interactive and publisher Eidos, my affections have firmly remained with SI’s Football Manager franchise – which is available on iPhone now too.
However, Champ Man remains a force to be reckoned with, and Eidos has just launched the latest version for iPhone and iPod touch – Championship Manager 2011. They promise it’s been completely “revamped and rebuilt” with a new interface and many more features.
Such as? Social media is now a big part of the game, as you earn achievements and brag about your team on Facebook and Twitter. You can now create custom formations with more flexibility (i.e. ‘do a Levein’ with a 4-6-0), with more ways to watch the matches too.
Can it take Football Manager Handheld’s iOS crown? Consider battle joined – although FMH 2011 has yet to be released.
