Dell Streak 7 now going for less than £100

More January 2012 price cut action folks; we’ve just heard that the Dell Streak 7 can now be snapped up for less than £100 – £99.97 to be exact, from PC World.

The Dell Streak 7 is something of a curio in that it comes with Nvidia’s Tegra 2 dual core chip, but it ships with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box instead of 3.x Honeycomb. No doubt enterprising modders out there would be able to cook up an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM to make things feel more up to date.

16GB of onboard storage comes along for the ride and there’s a slot for full-sized SD cards as well. RAM weighs in at 512MB and there’s a 5-megapixel camera couple with a 1.3-megapixel front-facer too.

The 7-inch touchscreen has a resolution of 800 x 480 (WVGA). While not the highest-res tablet out there, websites, games and apps ought to look decent enough. It can’t touch the BlackBerry PlayBook’s eye-melting 1024 x 600 pixel count but it’s also a good £70-odd cheaper. If you’re in the market for a cheap as chips Android tablet then this could be just the ticket.

The only real snag we can find with this deal is that it’s in-store collection only; meaning that you’ll need to have it dropped off at your nearest branch.
