Denim-covered OnePlus One smartphone has been revealed

OnePlus has revealed its first smartphone, the OnePlus One, and it’s all done up in denim.

The OnePlus One smartphone might just be the most fashionable phone of the moment. Not least because you can swap the stock back plate for a unique denim alternative. If you’re not a fan of denim, then, Moto X style, you can also exchange it for bamboo, wood, cashew or even kevlar.

As the phone is constructed from magnesium, it’s pretty light at just 162g. However, it still sounds mighty powerful and its features will rival with the likes of the recent Galaxy S5 and the other big droids. The One boasts a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel f/2 camera unit which uses Sony’s EXMOR sensor technology, and bottom-facing stereo speakers. It also runs a themed version of the CyanogenMod.

The One will be sold in the UK, the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and several other countries throughout Europe. For an unlocked 16GB version, it’ll cost you $299 (£178). If you want to quadruple the storage with a 64GB model, it’ll cost you a bit more at $349 (£207). Either way, it undercuts even Google’s Nexus 5 and still delivers one of the latest powerhouse hardware packages around.

Bare in mind, however, that it’s going to be easier said than done to get hold of one. OnePlus has said “The first 100 Oneplus Ones will be available through the Oneplus Phone Smash, starting April 25th.”

They added “OnePlus fans can go to oneplus.net/smash to apply to smash their current phone in exchange for a OnePlus One. 100 lucky applicants will get the very first 100 Oneplus Ones for just $1 as well as the ability to invite their friends to buy the Oneplus One.”
