The LG G4 has only been official for a matter of days but we’ve already seen a leak pretty much confirming the device’s baby brother, the LG G4c.
The leak, which hit German site WinFuture earlier in the week, showed the diminutive device in all its glory and also gave us an idea of what we can expect in terms of specs.
The ‘mini’ version of the G4 will feature a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display and will be driven by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 clocked to 1.2GHz. It may sound a world away from the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 that features on the full G4, but it should still help the device chip along at a reasonable pace.
There will also be 1GB RAM inside the G4c and just 8GB of on-board storage, though the device will feature a microSD card slot, so you’ll be able to add more space if needed. Word on whether it’ll accepts microSD support up to 2TB like it s flagship brother or unknown, but we’re sceptical.
Photographic duties will be handled by an 8-megapixel primary shooter with a single LED flash and a 5-megapixel secondary, which is a pretty generous selfie sensor for what amounts to a large, high-powered mid-ranger.
The device will be powered by a 2,540mAh battery which should offer reasonable longevity, but the less advanced chipset won’t be able to weave miracles – leading us to believe the experience won’t be far off last year’s LG G3 S.
Another feature of the LG G4 which won’t feature on the G4c is that luxurious leather back. The baby version will instead sport the diamond-pattern plastic rear plate. The slightly curved front of the full version will be present though, which is something.
In terms of connectivity, the device looks pretty standard. Inside you’ll find HSPA+, NFC and gigabit Wi-Fi support, which should cover most of the angles, though we’d have liked to have seen full 4G/LTE support – as not everyone is fortunate enough to live in an area with a consistently good signal.
Topping things off will be Android 5.0 AKA Lollipop, which should be overlaid with the latest version of LG’s custom interface, UX 4.0, an experience that’s come on in leaps and bounds recently.
The G4c is expected to launch in Germany during the first week of June and will be available across the rest of Europe and, dare we say it, the world shortly thereafter.
