EE has launched two great-value ‘Harrier’ smartphones, sporting HD screens and competitive cameras from just £99, or free on contract.
Following last year’s excellent EE Kestrel handset, the UK comms company has just unveiled two new handsets which also offer strong value for money: the EE Harrier, a 5.2-inch Android Lollipop handset, and the 4.7-inch Harrier Mini. Both phones pack 4G support, HD screens and impressive camera tech, making them serious rivals to the likes of the Motorola Moto G and Microsoft Lumia 640.
EE Harrier specs and features
Although its colourful 8.9mm body makes it stand out from other Android handsets, the EE Harrier isn’t a kiddy toy. The 5.2-inch screen boasts Full HD 1080p visuals, great news for movie fans – especially if you’re signed up to a service like Netflix, which should stream nicely over EE’s 4G offerings.
A 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon processor should also keep gamers happy, and keep your apps running smoothly. Meanwhile, amateur photographers can snap their surroundings with the rear-facing 13-megapixel camera.
And the Harrier will also make full use of EE’s new WiFi calling service, from this summer.
EE Harrier Mini specs and features
A smaller version of the Harrier known as the Harrier Mini has also been unveiled by EE, sporting a compact 4.7-inch screen (similar to the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact). The visuals have been scaled back to 720p, also like the Z3 Compact, but that should prove more than enough to keep images sharp on the dinky display.
The EE Harrier Mini is another Android Lollipop phone but the processor has been replaced with a 1.2GHz quad-core chipset, while the camera has also been knocked back to an 8-megapixel snapper – which is still competitive with the likes of the Motorola Moto G and Lumia 640.
And once again you’ll have full WiFi calling support.
EE Harrier and EE Harrier Mini UK price and release date
The EE Harrier will cost £199.99 on Pay As You Go, and will be free on 4GEE plans from £21.99 per month. If that’s a bit out of your budget, the EE Harrier Mini costs just £99.99 on PAYG and absolutely nothing on 4GEE plans from £16.99 per month. Both phones hit EE stores on April 28th.
