Handset speakers are generally pretty rubbish – low quality, quiet and tinny. Meanwhile, external speakers are either cheap and crappy or a bit too expensive to be worth it. A happy medium, this Extrasound hack shows you how you can create your own lo-fi amplification tool.
Designed by Mathery01, two young designers who come up with a new design idea every day, the Extrasound hack is simple but effective, using a funnel to amplify sound from an iPhone speaker. We reckon you could adapt this to pretty much any handset with a side-mounted speaker – speakers built into the back of a handset might present more of a problem though.
