Not everyone has the latest Android or iPhone, and now Facebook is allowing us lower lifeforms access to Facebook.

Looking to be compatible with over 2,500 models, (!) it will be offered by 14 networks around the world from Hong Kong to the Ukraine. The feature phone app promises to run on phones from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG and the rest.

Facebook’s mobile program manager, Mark Heynen writes on the Facebook blog:

“Smartphones have offered better features for sharing with friends but aren’t used by most people around the world.”

It’ll also be free to download; that is, no data charges if you download it in the first 90 days of release. We guess that once you’ve got it, you’ll be hooked so much you’ll forget the those pesky data charges.

The feature-phone app looks to offer a similar speedy experience to their smartphone app, and will include a home screen, contact sync, and “fast scrolling of photos and friend updates.”

Facebook are promising more countries will be added to the list in the near future.
