Facebook for Android gets updated, now more like the real thing

The most recent update the official Facebook for Android app has seen a number of neat new features brought to the table. When say ‘new’ we mean stuff you’ve been able to do on the desktop version since, well, forever.

Not that we’re complaining. The Facebook for Android app now features a much clearer and cleaner layout making it easier to find your way around.

All notifications are now accessed through a dedicated tab at the bottom of the screen making it easier to keep on top of comments, likes and the like.

Another new addition is video uploads, which now scroll along the bottom of the screen. These link directly to YouTube.

As you can see from the screenshot you also now get seven icons for news feed, profile, friends, photos, events (birthdays, parties, gig invites etc) and friend requests.

Granted it’s still not as slick as the iPhone equivalent, but it’s better than most other Facebook apps we’ve seen and far superior to the mobile web Facebook site.

If you don’t already have Facebook for Android, it can be downloaded for free from the Android Market.
