Facebook updates brings large images iOS and Android

Facebook has updated it’s news feed for iOS, Android and the mobile website, adjusting the layout so Facebook photographs are three times larger.

Last week Facebook heavyweight Mark Zuckerberg made his and his company’s feelings on mobile quite clear last week in a pr-IPO talk with investors: that Facebook Mobile was priority and it was “just getting started” with its mobile app.

The upgrade is effective immediately and you’ll notice the difference on your Facebook newsfeed, with the image increased to fit your smartphones screen  edge to edge. It’s a small tweak, but it certainly looks much smarter in your news feed.

Facebook images before and after

Following Facebook’s $1 billion purchase of photo sharing app Instagram, we hope to see more photo-orientated updates coming to the mobile site and Facebook’s app catalogue.

We’re expecting that an update to Facebook’s iOS and Android apps will be rolled out shortly and for the time being this will not be effective on the desktop version of the social network.

You can see the update for yourself via http://m.facebook.com/ on your smartphone. Let us know what you think in the comments below or via Facebook or Twitter.
