Firefox 4 Beta now available for Android and Maemo phones

Mozilla wants you to browse the web on your phone as comfortably as you do on your computer screen, and the release of its Firefox 4 Beta for Android and Maemo could see you one step closer to this utopian dream. Built on the same architecture as the desktop version, the new beta offers you all the handy Firefox tools you’re used to, inlcuding Add-ons, the Awesome Bar and Firefox Sync.

The focus of this new version of the mobile browser, says Mozilla, is on increasing performance and responsiveness. You can now pinch to zoom and enjoy fast-rendering animations and scrolling through web pages.

If you’re on Maemo or Android 2.0 and above then it’s definitely worth giving Firefox 4 a go – but remember, it’s in Beta so you’re likely to encounter bugs and niggles. If this happens, you’re encouraged to feed back to the team as well as offer your own suggestions. Aw, what a friendly bunch.
