Galaxy Nexus confirmed for Phones 4U

Phones 4U has confirmed it will be stocking the new Google phone: the Galaxy Nexus and it’s actually the first independent retailer to stock the phone.

Finally confirmed earlier today after months of speculation, the Samsung made Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to run Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the Android operating system.

A very slim 8.84mm deep, the includes the most striking feature is the 4.650-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, which has a 720p resolution – the highest currently found on a smartphone. Powered by a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor with a generous 1GB RAM, there’s a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and full HD 1080p video capture.

Highlights of Ice Cream Sandwich include the People app; Android Beam, where NFC technology is used to share information; and face-recognition phone unlocking software Face Unlock.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available free from £46 a month, or from £29.95 on a £41 a month tariff on a selection of networks, although we’ve yet to confirm which network’s this will be.

The exact Samsung Galaxy Nexus launch date has yet to be confirmed, but you can pre-register interest on the Phones4U website.
