Sometimes these release dates we get our hands on are based on rumour; but you know who should know exactly how Android’s progressing- the boss of Google, that’s who. And that’s exactly where the latest news of Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) has come from.
Embedded in a generally quite dry discussion about the future of cloud computing, Eric Schmidt announced that the latest greatest version of Android (4.0) should arrive some time in October or November.
This cunningly matches the rumoured launch-date for the Nexus Prime – the apparently Samsung-made smartphone, may pack a mythical spec sheet for a pure Android installation, high-end dual-core processors, a full-HD Super AMOLED 4.5-inch screen and a top-of-the-range camera on the back. All very nice.
