Google Earth for iOS devices has been updated so that you can now explore the deep dark depths of the seas without ever leaving dry land.
The update, which is available now, allows you to navigate the underwater terrain of the world’s oceans on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
An ‘Ocean’ layer has now been added to maps, alongside the usual borders, roads and place names. The Oceans layer features video content, photography and information supplied by the Sylvia Earle Alliance.
Sadly, the update doesn’t allow you to explore the infamous Google Earth ‘Atlantis’ that hit the headlines last year. But you might just stumble accross the real thing when scrolling through the waves on your iPad.
