A minor update this, but a fun one nonetheless. The most recent update to Google Maps (version 4.5.1) has arrived on Android phones and brings animated weather effects to the Maps live wallpaper.
You can’t quite tell from our early morning pic but there are some little fluffy clouds hovering over Lambeth on our map.
We’re not sure whether or not the visual effects relate to actual weather information, but it’ll be interesting to see if angry storm clouds appear on the wallpaper if it starts properly bucketing down. At the moment we’ve just seen little herds of cloud drifting gently across the lower regions of the screen.
To get the update open up the Android Market and head over to the Downloads tab. Or, if your phone is running Android 2.2/Froyo and you have automatic updates checked for Google Maps, you should have the update already.
