Fashion and augmented reality combine in a new app that brings to life the latest styles from Guess Watches and provides fashion fans with the chance to access exclusive content and win prizes.
Tomorrow (Saturday 6th October) the front of the Guess store on Regent Street will become an augmented reality experience called ‘Guess Live’ accessible via the free iPhone Guess Watches app.
Fashion fans need to download the Guess Watches app from the Apple App Store (there’s a link below), select ‘Experience’ and ‘Guess Live’ and point it at the photo (below left) which will be in the window – and in store – to view the Guess Watches advert. By scanning a QR code using the on-board QR scanner, customers can be in with a chance to win a Guess watch or shopping voucher.
The app also includes a look at Guess Watches current collection, with photographs and information on the latest ladies and mens collections. Unfortunately there’s no way to zoom in to get a closer look at the watches, which is a shame considering the app is all about Guess Watches. Currently you can’t buy via the app either – although Guess has confirmed there are plans to add a buy now feature in the future.
Elsewhere the app includes a Store Finder for locating nearby Guess shops and concessions and ‘Guess Access’ for the latest Guess Watches news.
The Guess Watches app is easy to use, but very basic and a little dull – it really needs larger photos of the watches (which is what most people want to see), but what sets it apart is the AR element, encouraging existing and new customers to visit the store and adding a new dimension to the shopping experience. Guess is planning to update the AR experience twice a year – and we can certainly see it building momentum.
Guess says it is planning to roll out the AR experience to other stores and other countries in the future. A spokesperson confirmed the app is coming for Android users in the future – but there are ‘no plans’ to bring it to Windows Phone.
Guess Watches is compatible with any iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running iOS 4.2, so if you’re in London tomorrow download the app, visit the store tomorrow, get some style tips and let us know what you think.
