The Nokia N900 is a tinkerer’s dream phone. We’ve seen it hacked to play SNES games using a PS3 controller and even used to control dancing robots. Today we’ve stumbled on yet another clever hack – a remote flash. Using the N900’s infrared transmitter and a Nikon DSLR with an infrared receiver, the N900 has been hacked to trigger the Nikon when it takes a picture and act as a remote flash.
Of course, you might be wondering why you would want to use an N900’s weak flash as a remote flash but as the hacker points out, “It’s fun. And taking photos should be fun. And now I can try out some fun photos with interesting flash. Just using my N900.” That’s the thing about the N900, it’s opened up a lot of interesting possibilities and certain people seem to be really enjoying hacking it.
