Chillingo, a UK-based mobile games publisher who gamers can thank for helping to bring the likes of Cut the Rope to the fore was picked up by Electronic Arts back in 2010 and has been showing off some of its latest titles at EA’s 2012 showcase event in London.
EA was demonstrating the latest console and mobile titles that gamers will be able to pick up and play for themselves in the coming months. Chillingo had a range of titles on offer, but one particular IP was just too iconic to miss, He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe.
Although not an exact lift of the 80’s TV series, the art style of this new title has been reworked to offer excellent HD gaming all the same. This side scroller sees you face off against Skeletor’s minions as Prince Adam’s manly alter-ego and of course the rest of his Eternia-based friends lend a hand from time to time.
The game’s overworld is broken into seven distinct areas, each with its own unique aesthetic, villains and boss battles. As you play across the 27 levels the game has to offer, you upgrade your abilities and improve your fighting style alongside your platforming skills.
Although we only got to control this iconic character for a short while, the gameplay was solid and responsive and the we can only guess that mobile games will appreciate the ability to wield the power of Greyskull in their hands, wherever they go.
He-Man: The Most Powerful Man in the the Universe is available for iOS soon and there are currently no plans to bring it to Android.
